Victim Services
Welcome to Victim Services. We serve over 2,000 crime victims and witnesses in Fannin, Gilmer, and Pickens counties each year. Our victim services staff has an advocate assigned to each office. Our primary responsibilities are fulfilling your District Attorney’s obligations under the Georgia Crime Victims’ Bill of Rights, teaching victims about the criminal justice system, updating victims on the status of their cases, assisting victims in obtaining restitution, and referring victims to appropriate public and non-profit partners for services. We also help victims who qualify seek crime victim compensation.
If you are victim and have been given a password to complete the victim services form, please read the information on this page about the Crime Victims’ Bill of Rights and restitution before starting the form. If you are a victim who has not been contacted by our office (and your case started after September 1, 2010), please contact the victim advocate in your county.
Please check the calendars under the links for the county where your case is pending to see if the defendant is listed and why the case is on the calendar. If you have requested an opportunity to speak at the defendant’s sentencing, we will contact you as soon as we know when the sentencing will take place. Please be aware that sentencing may take place unexpectedly (as a result of plea bargaining) and notice may be short.
This page includes links to the websites of our community partners and information for crime victims. If you have any questions, please contact your county’s office.
